A third possibility that may cause the violent shuddering discribed is improper installation of the roller pins on the brake shoes. Two different styles of pins are used on the brake shoes. The pins that hold the rollers on the shoes have a larger head. The head is installed inward to serve as guides against a special track on the backing plates. If the wrong pins are used, or the heads are outward, the shoes float around and the results are as previously described.
