0.0015 is 0.0005 over spec, but not bad. The only suggestion I'd make is to wrap the plastigage to the sides of the bearing with some oil on the journal and see what the clearance by the parting line is. If it's running wide, then the bearing won't last long, and may leak.
The other problem you might have is if the mating surfaces aren't FLAT and clean, you can develop leaks. Shims are lousey gaskets, though, so not having any isn't a really big thing.
