Hi
For the past Month of so I have been attempting to get my 1930 coupe speedometer to work. It appears to have frozen and destroyed the cable. Well I got it free again and decided to go with the proper speedometer shaft and cable for my car, which has the oval speedometer. I purched and installed a slotted shart(used but OK)also purchased a new cable housing with the new inner cable. My problem is the inner cable appears to be too short. It measured 61-3/4". I purchased just the new inner cable from Bratton. It is 62" and still too short. I need the following measurments from someone who has a good working combo:
1-Total Lgt. of outer housing?
2-Total depth of the collar rest inside the housing on the speedometer end.
3-Total lgt. of square shaft on the cable from the face of the collar.
4-Total lgt. of the inner cable.
5-Once the cable is inserted all the way inside the housing, how much of the slotted shaft is sticking out past the face of the transmission flange on the housing.
I know this is a lot to ask, but It's the only way I have of troubleshooting the problem. I'm just about to give up. One more question. Is it possible to get a cable custom made and if so where? Thanks in advance for your help. feel free to email if you need any more information.
