You're probably right about there being an inaccuracy in the lineboring but I don't want to redo that as it would mean re-pouring the babbitt to correct what I've been told is probably a small high spot. If I'm going to have to do that I might as well have it inserted. Next question: If I can find the high spot with mechanics' blue, how do I go about removing it? Scotchbrite? I asked a local wiz about using 1500-grit sandpaper and he said absolutely not, as the babbitt will take up the abrasive, which would then continue to grind on the crank. So...? Are we back to lineboring?
