Yes, unless you want 12 volts with positive ground. You'll do best to use a 12volt coil too. I'd go for negative ground, most everything is.
The + coil terminal gets electricity, the - goes to distributor.
Remember to reverse all the wires on the amp meter, or it'll read backwards.
