Carb rebuild

I am rebuilding a carb and need to chase the threads for the jets, etc.
I have all correct thread taps except the one listed as M5 X .75. I am able to find an M5 X .8 at my local hardware store. Is this ok for the job or do I need the .75 and if so any ideas where I could find one?
