In my earlier posting I neglected to mention that when you push the first bead onto the rim you should have the plane of the tire at an angle of around 30-45 degrees with respect to the plane of the rim. Thus the tire bead contacts the rim at just two locations and stretches slightly as tire slips over the rim on the soap film.
