If you remove the float and hold the top of the carb sp that the needle vale is to the left, there is a vent hole just to the right of that valve. That is probably where the gas is coming from. I am sory, but I do not have a fix for that one. Maybe someone else can help. You might want to get the model A Carburators book by Paul Moller from one of the parts suppliers. It is a good book for all Model A carbs. It has a section on the Tillotson Model X.
